I just started wondering about whether Glorantha has oil (and coal). Coal
is propable because it was of some importance quite early on... at least I
seem to recall that. Naphta, that is oil, was a pretty rare beast for the
longest of time.
But we have Mostali in Glorantha, and they no doubt would have a use for
mineal oil and coal. Gregs original Mostali articles makes it sound like
they mostly use wood to fire their engines, but it's still an interesting
question.
So what is oil in Glorantha? Even here oil is sometimes poetically called
"ancient sunlight", so in Glorantha oil is propably the blood of Yelm,
spilled when he was killed and trapped underground. After a while the fire
went out and the blood turned black and dead. The fire is still trapped
inside though, and will burn fiercely if ignited.
What do you guys think? Also what is a good mythological explanation for
coal? Something about the green age forests that burned down?
