How few thousand?  I always assumed about 10 thousand, each area, but
this sounds about 4-5 times as many as you indicate, above.

What about nonhuman population, specifically trollish and elvish?

I am assuming that there is no good way to guess the dwarf figures,
since the live mostly underground, and sometimes as isolated as Nida.
