In my play experience, nothing good ever comes from intervention by the
Ancestors. They complain and criticise, but never praise. They urge the
clan to continue destructive feuds rather than seek peace. In short,
they are a bunch of bitter grumbling old men, which makes sense given
that they are dead.

In Orlanth is Dead, the Ancestors provide some information about how the
Fimbulwinter compares with the crises they lived/died in.

I am unaware of the Ancestors as such providing any magic in a canonical
source. Arguably the magic provided by the clan Wyter, as the embodiment
of the clan itself, is coming from the Ancestors.

IIRC, the Ancestors are faceless; you can not distinguish individual
ancestors when you encounter them en masse. That suggests that the
Ancestors can not provide the kind of detailed and specific knowledge
that an individual could know: they deal in generalities.

So, I'd assert that they never provide magic, and provide knowledge
suitable for their conservative and general outlook.
