Like Greg likes to say semi-regularly, there's a diference between the norm
and everyone's individual story and idiosyncrasies.
There is IMO no reason whatsoever why an individual female Inititiation
shouldn't, in unusual individual cases, follow
the IFWW instead of the usual woman's initiation, based on the
appearance of the menses etc...
Humakt might personally choose the woman, who might even be sterile because
of this, and she might therefore be personally drawn into the male
initiation ritual instead.
The goddesses might reject her as an initiation candidate at the appropriate
time, and she may end up having a variant initiation instead, based on IFWW,
but still as part of the female sphere in some strange and unusual way, as
part of that character's ongoing LifeQuest.
etc etc
There are basically two ways to play initiation in the game --- first way,
it's just part of the background, whether it just goes on in the background
or is quickly played out for illustration and perhaps bonding purposes at
the beginning of a campaign --- then it will always be gender determined as
usual, with the usual and well known exceptions.
But when an individual, full initiation is played out, it's always a full
HeroQuest, not just the practise run stuff of a standard initiation, with
all the risks, rewards, and potential pecularities that can occur on a real
HeroQuest, including the "nice Heortling girl gets mixed up in IFWW"
possibility ...
A Praxian equivalent might, just as a single example, be an unitiated young
praxian girl getting caught up in the Eternal Battle, and living to tell the
tale... this would be a life-transforming experience, and she could come out
of it as an initiated young woman, if the GM wanted to play it that way
anyway...
