Actually, this looks like battlemagic/spirit magic/common magic 
(depending on whether you play RQ2/RQ3/HQ)...

The spell descriptions all suspiciously resemble earlier editions of RQ...

My guess is that since the name of the game is RuneQuest, they wanted 
a way to emphasize runes.
