[Glorantha] Annoying mystery messages

  I've finally bullied my Wednesday night group into letting me run 
HeroQuest and I've gone back to my books in preparation. And I've found 
all these annoying messages in Rune. I never bothered before to figure 
out what they meant and I seem to recall someone saying that the cypher 
(or whatever) was 'very basic'. Not basic enough for my poor brain. Can 
anyone help?
