I'm not sure how well endowed Morocanth are generally. I think they use 
either trained herdmen or captured slaves, or awakened herdmen (as you say) for 
knot writing. Also, those with the blessed thumbs may learn to do something like 
tying knots with them. 

Morocanth literature though, would be even more hindered by the Praxian 
writing medium than the rest of Prax.
