[Glorantha] Mythic reasons for painting...

Ok, there was talking about painting on a canvas. I have to tell couple of 
things that one should remember about it. As maybe some of you may know, 
canvas is not a "ready" ground to paint for in RW. At first you need to 
paint right type of glue and then gesso on it. Then when it`s dry, you can 
paint on it.
What if in Glorantha there might be some kind of enchantments, or blessing 
from gods to give magical affinities/powers to the painting (instead of RW 
mechanics)?

And what about the icon wars in the west?

It`s a pity I`m not able to follow Digest for a longer time nowadays. Just 
thought to drop some ideas on the topic.
