No.  Spells are keyed to specific runes.  Look at the sorcerous cults
in HeroQuest and you'll notice a rune in front of every grimoire.  That
rune is a node on the Spell Plane.  Hence merely developing a spell
means you have discovered a new way to harness the energies
of a given node.
