I'd go along with that. But, one of my own pet
theories is that the EWF did have *some* impact on the
ducks. One of those hazy things we've "always known"
is that the ducks believe they lost the power of
flight due to a curse from the Evil Emperor, and
Orlanth has promised to give it back to them (and
hasn't quite got round to it yet for some reason or
other).

Well... suppose that at one point some Orlanth
representative or other did indeed promise to give
them wings? Only the suggested method involved having
the brain and tongue split, and doing a bit of
waltzing? Final end result, if you get it right -
wings. And scales. No, this probably wasn't the
standard Orlanth cult. "Obduran the Flyer was the
first dragonfriend to also be an Orlanthi" says KoS,
so one of his followers.

The ducks of course don't quite remember the details
of this.

And then there's the question of who the Evil Emperor
was who cursed them?
