The central Death/Rebirth ritual held common to many shamanic initiatory 
quests in the RW is often, but not universally, one of voluntary death 
without an assurance of rebirth. A self sacrificial leap of faith.

However, RW shamanism is very much based on personal experience so we 
cant generalise here.

Its just too vague IMO to interpret every instance of the word sacrifice 
in this way. But I understand your point.
