Not "thought that", that's explicitly stated in the myth. Well, Barntar's
death is - Vadrus is stated as deposed, but not crippled.
TR p146 - quoting the lot would go beyond word-count limits.

"After Orlanth's time of exile was over, Vingkot sacrificed and called him
back. Orlanth returned..."
That's it. Over to Vingkot.

OK, sounds like an interesting idea.
Can you define the dynasty as kin-slayers? That's Vadrus' defining sin in
this myth. The start of Kinstrife. Him killing Barntar was the first true
death in the Kinstrife.
Orlanth gets exiled: "one time all of his brothers conspired, and helped by
a thief and a trickster..."
And when he comes back, he reunites old allies: Urox, Kolat, Humakt, and
Yinkin (who had helped him during his exile). All sounds like good things
for your side.
Someone also asked:
"While answering this, could someone also say what Orlanth was
supposedly doing while outlawed? Which subcults would have their major
myths from this period?"
How about this? "This is the time of Ernalda's "other guardians". She got
many strong gods to defend the Vingkotling peoples, and forged alliances
with small gods to join them to the tribe. Here is a partial list of her
temporary husbands: Elmal the Bright, Heler the Shaggy, Vestkarthen of the
Deep, Dojor the Black, Delan the Strong, and Dashing Veradash."
So while I don't know what Orlanth was up to (sulking in a bar?), Ernalda
was doing a lot!
