Yes, a big question is whether locals know that this is an unusual 
event, or within the normal variation of weather. And (in the 
barbarian belts -- south as well as Genertela -- whether they know 
something has happened to their god in distant lands.

Not really relevant in Orlanth is Dead, but it might be nice as a Q&A 
or something for the web site.
