If you are worried about the power level of the Guardians, then
that can easily be massaged by saying that Arkat casts many
shadows in the heroplanes.

There always is a significant linkage with Shargash in any mythology.
He just hasn't been mentioned at all in the western mythology.

A significant linkage springs to mind (Arkat getting tossed into a
Dara Happan Hell) but that linkage is unlikely to have a guardian
as it wasn't a heroquest by Arkat.

I do wonder if the westerners identify Shargash with Dadamus who
is said to have sacrificed his soul (or simply shared it around) to
gain dominion over the creatures of Darkness (Revealed Mythologies
p20).

A more mundane possibility is that Horal in his test of weapons
has to fight off an aspect of Shargash.

When Horal is defeating everybody in the test of weapons, one
of his foes ought to be Shargash.
